Part 1 - General

  1 . 1 Work included
    . 1 Brass or bronze clad steel door frames.

  1 . 3 Frame & Door Design
    . 1 Clad steel frames and clad steel doors shall be based on products as manufactured by Ambico Limited. Light gauge brass or bronze shall be fastened to steel core frames and doors to suit design requirements of the design consultant. No substitutions shall be allowed unless approved by the consultant prior to tender closing. Alternate manufacturers must submit evidence of previous similar construction in the last three years.

  1 . 4 Warranty
    . 1 Material and workmanship shall be warranted by the manufacturer for a period of five (5) years from the date of supply. Warranty shall apply to replacement or retrofit of product only.

Part 2 - Products

  2 . 1 Materials
    . 1 Cladding material shall be brass or bronze sheet to ASTM-B36.
    . 2 Door core material shall be a laminate of steel plate and plywood built up to required door thickness.
    . 3 Frame core material: Pressed steel frame made of commercial grade, zinc coated steel to ASTM A653.

  2 . 2 Fabrication
    . 1 General:
A : Cladding material to be fastened to frame/door core material. Joints at frame header or where door stiles and rails are joined shall be neat and clean.
B : Joints shall be vertical. Width of joints shall not exceed 1/8".
C : Doors and Frames shall be swing type with provision for glass and/or louvres by others.
D : Frames and doors shall be blanked, reinforced, drilled and tapped for mortised, templated hardware.
E : Frames and doors shall be reinforced, where required for surface mounted hardware. Drilling and tapping shall be by others, on site, at time of installation.

  2 . 3 Fabrication - Frames, Mechanically Fastened
    . 1 Frame jambs and header shall be mechanically fastened forming a neat and clean vertical line not more than 1/8" in width.
    . 2 Floor anchors shall be securely attached to the inside of each jamb profile. Mechanically fasten two (2) temporary jamb spreaders per frame to maintain proper alignment during shipment.
    . 3 Mechanically fasten two (2) temporary jamb spreaders per frame to maintain proper alignment during shipment.
    . 4 Glazing stops shall be accurately fitted, butted at corners and fastened to frame sections with counter-sunk, oval head, sheet metal screws matching the finish of cladding material.

  2 . 4 Fabrication - Doors
    . 1 General:
A : Doors shall be swing type, flush, with provision for glass and/or louvre openings as indicated on schedules.
B : Longitudinal edges shall be mechanically inter-locked. Seams shall be visible.
C : Top and bottom of doors shall be provided with inverted, recessed, spot welded channels. Exterior doors shall be provided with flush top caps to match finish of the cladding material.

    . 2 Slab core construction: Brass or bronze face sheet of doors shall be clad to steel/plywood core and shall be laminated under pressure.


Part 3 - Execution

  3 . 1 Site Storage and Protection of Materials
    . 1 All materials shall be thoroughly inspected upon receipt and all discrepancies, deficiencies and/or damages shall be immediately reported in writing to the supplier.
    . 2 All materials shall be properly stored on planks or dunnage, out of water and covered to protect them from damage from any cause.

  3 . 2 Installation
    . 1 Set frames plumb, square, level and at correct elevation.
    . 2 Secure anchorages and connections to adjacent construction.
    . 3 Install doors and hardware in accordance with hardware templates and manufacturer's instructions.
    . 4 Adjust operable parts for correct clearances and function.
    . 5 Install louvres, glazing and door silencers in accordance with standard industry procedures.
